It receives a print request from the print spooler that resides within the computer that sends the request, via a medium of USB, FireWire, or network. Then once all the printing data is received, it will start up the laser, and apply the toner, using the laser, on the rotating drum inside. Then, a piece of paper will be drawn in, and prints by pressing the printed image on the drum to the paper.

Works by a laser charging the drum in the print area with positive or negative ions, cant remember which now, been a few years. The toner (the black powder) is attracted to this charge and is transferred onto the drum. The paper is then charged as well and will attract the toner from the drum when the drum rolls over the paper. Then the paper passes through a heating element where the toner is bonded by heat to the paper.
