What can be the problem to my epson projector not projecting light and how can I fix it? October 25, 2009
Posted by Kuba in : Home Theater , trackbackThe projector powers on but nothing projects out anymore. It recently felled. Whats the problem, could it be the bulb? And how can I fix it. Also is there a way that I can open it up and figure out.

I think the light bulb probably burned out or got broken when it fell.
you need to contact the company that made your projector they can tell you the model number and size/voltage of the bulb you need to buy.
they can also give you instructions to replace the bulb.
it should be pretty easy, maybe a few screws.
I think I am factory authorized for Epson. It’s a good sign that the projector is still running. It sounds like the lamp is blown or broken. There should be an access door on the side or the bottom with possibly a single screw that can be removed to access the lamp area. The lamp will usually have 2 silver screws holding it in place. Take these out, firmly grasp the handle on the lamp while holding the projector firmly, and gently pull the lamp out of the projector. You may have to wiggle the lamp slightly while you are pulling it. In case the lamp is still good… be very careful not to touch the lamp itself as oils from your skin could leave spots that will heat up and damage the lamp when it powers on.
Visually inspect the lamp…if it has any black or white spots inside on the globe, or if the vacuum is lost you will see a crack in it somewhere on the inside or outside. Usually the lamp element is shattered and you will see tiny bits of loose glass inside of it.
If the lamp is bad, which it probably is, do a search for ‘replacement lamp for Epson xxxx” (xxxx is the model #).
If you want, give me the model # of the projector and I’ll let you know what lamp you need and its part #. By the way…projector lamps range in cost between $150 and $500 depending on brand and model.
Hope this helps. good luck
