What brand and model of a large format printer ( used for tarpaulin printing ) is best ? October 20, 2009

I noticed that there are now a lot of print shops that does tarpaulin printing.
If your shop use a large format printer, what is its brand and model ? Please also comment on printers performance level.
Note : I posted this question in the Philippine Category since my business is based in MetroManila and I want printers that are sold in the Philippines.

Your Q reminded me of my cousin’s large format printing business that boomed during the Philippine national and local elections campaign. I nearly invested in that business, my cousin’s business used to be located at Timog, QC. I was in the Phils. when one of his large prints (Kamiseta, Natalie Portman ad) is displayed somewhere in Edsa. He had to give up the business after his petition to US is granted. Anyway, his business primarily used a Roland Soljet XC540 Printer and at the same time cutter. I’m not much into the technical details but his tarp prints are of good image quality, vivid and fade proof color. The machine was bought outside Philippines, it had costly misfires which is due to the low quality ink supplied by some ink supplier in Manila (I think ATI is the name or something) so he had to order different brand of ink overseas.
Maybe you can repost your Q to other sections of Y! Answers or printer forums to get better tips and suggestions.
