How do I get ink out of white patent leather? February 18, 2010

Posted by Kuba in : Cleaning & Laundry , trackback

I have a white patent leather purse that has two small ink marks; one is regular ballpoint and the other is from a rollerball pen. I have tried toothpaste, hairspray, ajax with bleach (amazingly it didn’t ruin the patina) and soap. How do I get this ink out? Do I have to rub the patina off?Submited by:Sarah

strip the patina, dye the purse a dark color

try baking soda & peroxide mixed together, it works for lots of things, maybe it will work for that.
or try softcrub with bleach?

I think either try Oops, or take it to a professional cleaner

I think Take a small amount of rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball, and rub gently. When you are finished take vasoline and rub that on and then buff it off and you will be left with a beautiful shine. You can also use dry cleaning solvent.
